After working as an editor for 10 years, Maggie was ready for something new. She had just discovered felting, and she found herself madly knitting gigantic, grocery-sized bags and shrinking them down into exciting smaller shapes. What she loved most was the transformation of the fibers: she could take a standard-looking wool handknit and turn it into a brand new textile, stiff, yet soft to the touch, with all the colors blending as if they had always been a single material. She was hooked, and literally felted everything that wasn't pinned down.

Join us after the meet and greet for a fabulous class on felting. We will be making boots!! The class is $25 and materials can be purchased at the store. (Materials are $24- $48 depending on the size you make)maplesyruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17675302265997710242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29671045.post-4428675546056137662008-03-27T23:11:00.000-07:002008-03-27T23:19:56.159-07:00Horse Quilt for LorraineI made this quilt for my friend Lorraine's Boyfriend. I am SO excited to let you know that Heather Ross, the fabric designer, is coming to Luminous Threads on Thursday! I am beside myself! She is one of my absolute FAVORITE designers. Kristin squealed when I told her that Heather was coming. If you don't know who she is you can check out her fabric by clicking on the link below:

http://www.freespiritfabric.com/core-pages/gallery.php?gal_id=113&PHPSESSID=b898ad8538a8dfed9cd6ef5c6ee6e44e

I know that this is short notice, but I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the opportunity to meet someone so sweet and talented. Heather just happened to stop by the store today. I am so glad that I was there working a little late. I hope you can make it. We'll have refreshments and Heather will be talking about her new book and two new fabrics lines coming out in the Spring. She might even do a sewing demo or something-- it'll be a suprise.

So here are the official details:
WHO: Heather Ross, fabric designer
WHAT: Meet and Greet
WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 20 at 1p.m.
WHERE: Luminous Threadsmaplesyruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17675302265997710242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29671045.post-60972305943787970342007-09-07T19:40:00.000-07:002007-09-07T20:04:16.030-07:00Customer Creations
This adorable hat was made by Jill Sanders. A little rearranging, new yarn, new fabric, and a NEW owner (Amber Barcus), just to name a few. Don’t be alarmed—Luminous Threads is still going to be called Luminous Threads and Alison is still going to be involved with the store. She will be available for teaching classes and private lessons on Fridays and Saturdays. For those of you who don’t know me, please come in and introduce yourself. I am always happy to meet the people that make Luminous Threads such a wonderful thriving business!

New Yarn
We have some beautiful new yarns available that are made out of the most incredible fibers. The Southwest Trading Company has several unique natural yarns. Amaizing is made from corn silk and knits up beautifully. Twize is made from bamboo and Tofootsies is an incredible wool/cotton blend. Both of these knit up the greatest socks and children’s sweaters. And to top it all off—Southwest has a bunch of great patterns that I’ve downloaded and cost only $2 each. I also have some great new yarn from Anny Blatt, Bouton D’or, and Zitron. Make sure you come and check them out—keep looking at the blog to see when they are going to be on sale.

May 20 through 31st: Sale, Sale, Sale!
In addition to the new yarns placed in our clearance area and our $2 Bin, we are having a big sale! May is a great time to save at Luminous Threads. For the next 2 weeks all fabric is 20% OFF! Yarn on sale includes: Noro, Ella Rae, Frog Tree and Southwest Trading Company, all at 25% OFF! Plus, you’ll get DOUBLE stamps on your card when you mention that you read about the sale here! SO, don’t forget to tell us you read your newsletter!!!

Friday Knitting Group
Our Friday Knitting Group is going strong! Join us between 11-1 and 5- 6:30 p.m. every Friday at the store and get inspired by other knitters and crocheters. It’s free!
maplesyruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17675302265997710242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29671045.post-2978622589251929422007-05-09T10:15:00.000-07:002007-05-09T10:36:33.037-07:00Mother's Day Weekend
*

Welcome the new owner Amber Barcus!

*

New Fabrics!

New Yarn!

New Notions and Needles!

New Jewelry!
maplesyruphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17675302265997710242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29671045.post-82589288232081090012007-05-06T20:07:00.000-07:002007-05-06T20:20:34.405-07:00Last Week of Alison's SALE!To thank my customers for 2 years of patronage I am happy to announce that the entire store will be 40% OFF! I will also be teaching classes, so I hope to keep in touch with everyone! I could not be happier that Amber will continue to bring knitting, crochet, and quilting to Felton. Thank you ALL for inspiring me and supporting a local business. You will love the beautiful yarns and fabrics Amber has been buying to fill the store for her Open House on Mother's Day Weekend!!!Alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17374804268883854041noreply@blogger.com
