This Week's Sales...

11 Freshcut FQs

In addition to our big 20% off table, we've put 3 "Luminous Favorites" on sale (AND keep reading to find out how to take an ADDITIONAL 15% off on top of these mark-downs). First of all, Noro "Silk Garden Light" is a beautiful multi-colored yarn in silk/wool that makes amazing stripes. See Susan's sweater in the previous post for an example of how beautifully this yarn knits up. We have a lot of colors left and now it's on sale for 20% OFF! Another yarn on sale now for 20% off is Ella Rae "Classic Wool". This yarn is perfect for felting, for a sweater, or any project that requires a "worsted" weight wool. Again, lots of colors left. Karabella "Gossamer" is now 30% off! This is a great yarn for making something extra special for yourself; it's a very light mohair with just a little bit of sparkle. Perfect for a shawl to wear out to dinner. We've also bagged up a lot of yarn and marked it down. Some of these 20%-30% off by-the-bag yarns include wools and cottons great for bigger projects like sweaters and shawls. In addition, all of our ribbon is 30% off (3 yard minimum cut).

Now for our "Blog Readers Only" specials: bolts on our 2 side fabric walls (featuring vintage reproductions, flannels, solids, asian prints, tropical prints, polka dots, kids' prints, florals and more) are 25% off, and everything else you purchase is 15% off when you mention this blog post! That means our back wall of fabrics, all books & patterns, needles, totes AND regular priced, sale and clearance items are discounted just for you!

AND this Friday night from 5pm-7pm get an even BETTER discount: not 15%, but 25% off everything you buy. Yes! Your merchandise subtotal will get a 25% reduction. Mark your calendar!

*Just a note: in order to honor our local artists, consignment items like Mackarilla bags, Amber's jewelry, and our handmade buttons are never included in our sales. Thank you!

Fashion Show!

Thank you to everyone who came to our Fashion Show and Tell. We had a great time and everyone left even more inspired than ever. Here are some photos from the event. Susan is one of our most prolific knitters. She made this gorgeous jacket out of Noro Silk Garden (on sale this week by the way!). See another one of her amazing creations at the bottom of this post!

Shonna shows us her first felted bag project ever. She used Cascade Pastaza and got the pattern from the "Stitch n Bitch" book. She is very happy with the way it turned out. Wouldn't you be?

A finished Block of the Month afghan! Wow, it looks great. This one was made from the collection of "Earth Tones". The other choice for the project is "Ocean Tones". What a wonderful sampler and heirloom.

Tencha tells us about her socks knit from self-patterning yarn. They look amazing, don't they?

Tencha's gorgeous afghan made of "Lana Grande" from Cascade. The cables form hearts!

Clara shares about her process when knitting these two scarves. She wears them to school, too!

Clara's mom, Chris Baker, made these hats for her husband and son from "Stitch n Bitch", a very popular book at the shop as you can see.

Chris also made this poncho for her youngest daughter Morgan. She used Cascade Magnum and made up her own pattern! Great job Chris!

Here's Chris modeling Susan's (on her left) "Hug-Me-Tightly" from Mel Clark's book "Knit 2 Together". I was so inspired I started making my own out of black alpaca from Misti Alpaca's. Susan's is also made of Misti Alpaca Worsted. Isn't it beautiful!?

Some Inspiration and This Week's Sale!

I thought this wall organizer was a cute and easy project. Who coudn't use some organization, and how fun to make something so functional and yet so beautiful! You could make it any size you want and add as many pockets as you need. Use a bulletin board as the back and attach your fabrics by sewing, using a glue gun, or a staple gun. It would make a great gift for a friend, or a kid!
Ok, on to the SALE!
We are getting ready to welcome Amber as the new owner of the store, and so between now and May 10th, you'll get lots of great deals as we shrink our inventory down to make room for Amber's new yarns and fabrics arriving as we speak! She'll be presenting them Mother's Day weekend! This week, shop at Luminous Threads and take 20% off Karabella's washable "Aurora 8 Space-Dyed", Karabella's sparkly "Gossamer", all Rio de La Plata wool, and all other yarns on our big main table. We also have great discounted yarns sold "by-the-bag", a perfect way to get a deal on yarn for your next big project. AND, cut, paste, and print the text from this post to create your coupon, because starting Monday and until Sunday, blog-readers get to take 10% off any needles or crochet hooks you might need, 20% off needle organizers and any of the patterns in our pattern binders, 30% off quilting books and fabrics (excludes Westminster fabrics and "Freshcut"), and 40% off ribbon by the yard, including our hand-dyed silk. Stay tuned for more discounts between now through May 10th! I'll post each week's sales and coupons on Sunday nights.

Fashion Show and a Month-Long Sale!

I am so happy to announce that AMBER BARCUS will be the new owner of Luminous Threads! She will take over on May 11th. Here's a photo of Amber at our last Fashion Show and Tell. Many of you know Amber's happy face since she has worked at the shop since it's beginning, back in June of '05. Please join us this Saturday from 5-7 for our Show and Tell event. If you've missed it in the past, please don't miss out this time: it will be my chance to say good-bye.
*sniff*sniff!*
We'll have a door-prize drawing, snacks, and you'll get some truly inspiring ideas from other Luminous Customers! We'll also have a store-wide sale after the event for all who participate. You can bring something that is not quite finished, something you made a while ago, whatever you have made with yarn or fabric from our shop.
And if you just can't make it, please come in between now and May 10th (my last day) as we celebrate the next 4 weeks with sale after sale! Each week's discounts will be good from Monday morning to Sunday close. I will be posting the list of each week's sale items here on the blog on the Sunday night before each week. By May 10th, everything will be marked down up to 50% off! We'll even have an EXTRA SPECIAL after-hours-evening sale, just for blog-readers, so make sure to read this blog to find out when it will be held!!!
Amber has been really busy with all the sales reps, ordering new things for Spring and Summer, so please help me help HER make room for all the new stuff and stock up on
yarn, fabric, needles, books, and more!
