Saturday KNIT Fever!!!

Our knitting night, Saturday the 22nd, was a big success - thanks everyone for showing up! And thank you Amber for being a perfect hostess. The ladies had a yarn swap to exchange unwanted yarn and a potluck, while listening to disco (for part of the time, anyway!). Everyone had fun sharing ideas and learning from one another. We had fun door prizes, too. We'll be sure to have another "Saturday KNIT Fever" this fall, so stay tuned to the blog! We also get together every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:30, please come!

The grand prize! A limited edition "Saturday KNIT Fever" t-shirt, made by Amber, available at the shop soon!!!

If You Can Knit a Scarf...

This is the first blog entry of "If You Can Knit a Scarf..." you can make this project!
Had enough of knitting scarves, but you think you can't make anything else? Well, you're WRONG! There are lots of projects that don't have pieces to seam together at the end (we all LOVE that idea, don't we).
This is a brand new pattern at the shop that I am really inspired by. It's a gorgeous shawl you can knit with any thickness of yarn using a size 4 needle ("Fingering Weight") to a size 10.5 needle ("Worsted Weight"). In fact, if you used Cascade 220, you could knit this project for $27.00 and have enough yarn left to make a matching hat! And if you buy the 220 during the 3rd week of our August sale, you'll pay only $18.90!
Do stripes, or solid, it's up to you.
The price for this pattern is $5.50 and will be 30% during the 4th week of our 'Amazing August Sale!"

Fibertrends patterns are wonderful! Take a look by clicking here and if you see something you like, call us to see if it's in stock!

The Buttonhole Bag!

This is a popular sample at the shop. You can find a pdf of the pattern by clicking here. This one's made with one skein of Noro Kochoran (still 20% for the rest of the month of July!). What a simple project. Makes a great, easy gift. The tape measure is pretty cute, too.

Block of the Month Club, Going Strong!

Here are a few of our Block of the Month knitters from last week's Thursday night meeting. We have 3 new members, Patricia, Sundari, and Beccy... they are so into this project that they rapidly finished their July blocks and came in today to pick up June's! Patricia mentioned that she thinks we should do 2 blocks per month. I laughed. It's a great idea, unless you're the one organizing! It's a lot of work, but totally worth it. I love to see the spirit of adventure in my knitters. I mix up the levels of the blocks, some are for beginners, some for intermediates... I'm always here to give assistance when members get stuck! And congratulations to new members Janie, Sue and Yvone for getting started on their afghans!
We will be raising the price of this project, so join sooner rather than later if you've been thinking about it! It's a great value: a stitch pattern, a ball of 220 superwash (will make 2-3 blocks), and a class! Still $150/year or $15/month billed separately.

More Luminous Customer Creations

Here's some inspiration!
You've seen our hankie reproductions, here's a beautiful quilt made by Sabra for her new baby boy! She backed this quilt with our cotton chenille. HOW SOFT AND WARM can you get?
Mickey shows off her new quilt made with our vintage reproductions! She designed it herself. The little baskets are simply adorable!

Sundari shows us her new crochet top made with Cascade Sierra. It was amazing to feel how soft this yarn got after working with it. Sundari designed this top herself and created it on a trip to Costa Rica! Sundari loves our new favorite crochet book: "Stitch 'n' Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker".

Here's a closeup of her beautiful work!

Thank you, ladies for the inspiration!

Superstar Knitter!

I am so proud of Keith for the great job he's doing on his Cascade "Magnum" scarf knit on size 19 needles. Keith will be going in to second grade next year and is such a bright and talented young man. He comes to the Summer Knit Camp that we just started. Great job Keith! Thanks for being a bright light in our special shop.

And his sister Jenny is a sweetheart, too. Here she is modeling a bunny hat sample she took a liking to in the store.
